EAT

 

What do tiny spiders eat –
and mites and invisible
creatures who are only
known to microscopes?
 
Do they feel it when I step
on them in the fields or on
the floor or sidewalk or when
I sit on them in church benches?
 
Evidently, there’s a lot more
going on that I’ll ever know –
how I sit on others or step on
their self-respect or self-image.
