WITHOUT KNOWING IT

automatic acts of kindness –
that kids won’t see till his funeral
or  his 75^th birthday – and actually
he probably will have forgotten.

Kids repeat – without even noticing –
what they learned from their dads.

I saw a sign

But I didn’t stop
to see what I should

This time I stopped
to see where I was.

CRACKS

 
Cracks in the sidewalk,
broken cracks, broken vases,
crazy glue works every time,
except in broken hearts.
 
The vase fell.
It broke into 25 pieces
Crazy Glue worked.
It healed the “Oh no!”

But not the broken heart.

RUINS

 
Abandoned buildings,
roofless churches,
stones on top of stone,
ruins on top of ruins,
destruction on both sides
of the road, remains
everywhere, but deeper,
wider, worse, what all
this has done to the
insides of people,
the future plans that
were destroyed in the meanwhile
