ASTONISHMENT
Does a 4 year old have a greater
sense of astonishment than a
74 year old? I don’t know.
When do people stop looking?
Or do they? Does it all depend
upon whom we are talking about?
Is this what Jesus was talking
about when hesaid, “Unless you
be like little children you won’t
see the kingdom of God?”
Lord, give me at least 4 things
to be amazed at every day.”

THE
END
Sometimes we
long for those two words,
“The End” –
simple and just five letters.
Sometimes it’s
a sermon or a speech.
Sometimes it’s
a movie or a novel.
Sometimes it’s
a boring conversation.
So we give
signals. We shift feet.
We look at
our watch or phone.
But the
message is also our desire
for new
beginnings and fresh starts.
Two other
words are more important:
“Self application”
or three: “Start with self”.

TURNING
Turning:
that’s something we can all do.
Inward listening to self –
that can described as meditation ….
Outward listening to others – hearing
the feelings others have in their words….
That can be described as caring.
I feel joy and I feel fear – both.
I can be an optimist and a pessimist – both.
That’s me – the inner me.
That’s me – becoming a whole person –
Becoming a well rounded person ….
Becoming – that’s me – I hope.
Becoming – that’s you – I hope too.

COMFORTABLE
What’s wrong
with having comfortable
as a goal. Nothings
wrong with that –
unless we’re
not facing uncomfortable
things we
need to face and deal with?
Comfortable
chairs and beds and to be
with people
we’re comfortable with.
That sounds
like a great goal in life.
Sometimes we
have to tell another person
they are
heading in the wrong direction.
Now that can
be very uncomfortable!

DOORS
What are the
doors we pause before opening?
What are the
doors we can’t wait to open?
What are the
doors we can’t wait to close?
What are the
doors we want to lock?
What are the doors we wonder what’s on the other
side of?
What are the doors leading to secrets behind the
scenes?
What are the
doors that led to total surprise?
What are the doors to the church we said our last
prayer in?
