THE APPLE

The apple hung there  - still growing -

glistening in the light of the morning

sunrise - till it was finally ready for teeth -

ready to eat - till it screamed to the

world, “Take and eat. Take and eat.

This is what I was created for.”

But stupid, stupid, a million “me’s”

take and eat forbidden fruit instead.
