MORNING PRAYER

Do you see each day as a blessing?
Do you have the habit of looking out
your morning window and you smile
when you see the scattering rays
of light that have landed on green leaves
and brown branches of your favorite tree
or you spot a black cat
on a big blue plastic garbage can
watching the birds at one more sun rise?


Or do you almost have to have died,
before you pinch yourself for the gift
of one more day to live to the full?
Thank You God for this new day
of life and light and love.
Surprise me God. Surprise me God
today with great delight.
I promise You, I’ll be waiting,
I’ll be watching like that cat.
Thank You, God. Thank You.
