CARDS FROM LONG AGO
She told me - when she gets lonely,
she gets out the cards
he gave her from long ago.
Then she added
the best part of the story.
When his eyes were almost
gone - when he couldn’t read,
he’d ask the card store lady
to read the words inside
out loud, till he heard
a really good one.
