CHURCHES
Sometimes I need crowded churches.
Sometimes I need empty churches.
It all depends. God what do you need
from us individuals and crowds - in these
many churches sticking up on the sky line.
It’s nice when there is a crowd - singing -
smiling - celebrating, “Give God the Glory!”
Brides coming down the aisle - babies
being baptized, folks praying together -
and sometimes crying at a family funeral.
It’s also nice to just sit there in an empty
church - in the silence - hearing creaking
benches - praying with tiny red candles and their
shadows on stations of the cross along with
embedded prayers on afternoon church walls.
