a phone call in the night,

The long wait is over.
The long cancer has finally choked
enough of his cells to end it all.

travel, places to stay, the undertaker,
the church, the cemetery.

a widow, their children, unable to sleep
alone in the big bed.
Maybe now is the time
to make the big phone call,
and listen to the big listening moment.
