ASH  WEDNESDAY  EXERCISE

Take your finger and rub it on a
window ledge or venetian blinds.

If  you're ultra neat look for some dust
in a unchecked, unvisited, tiny corner.

Look at your finger and see the dust
and say, “This might be part of me.”

Shed skin, flaked me, just a tiny bit
of little old me – rubbed off me. “Me?”

Yes, remember you are dust and
into dust you shall return.  “Woooo!”

WILL  I  BE  ABLE?

I get that thought – that question – when another dies?

I wonder about people when they get cancer
and hear a death sentence.

This wondering has to be dealt with alone – but I’m sure it helps when there are others around the bed.

I think of this when I’ve see YouTube firing squad scenes.

If there is nothing after death,  then I’ll never know –
but I have to ask if that answer is chosen because
it’s so difficult to accept a next step?

I wonder about the other side. Will I wake up in a dark corridor?

Will there be those who have gone before me waiting for me?

Will I be able to accept death when it comes?

Do I really believe in Christ as the beyond beyond this?

LOOKING FOR
A CONVERSATION STARTER?

Tell me ten days you remember?

September 11,  2001.
The day JFK was shot and killed. [Nov. 22, 1963]
The day the Beatles landed in New York [Feb 7, 1964].
The day we met the one we married.
Seeing our first grandkid.
The day we walked our daughter down the aisle.
The day mom or dad died.
The big snow storm of 1947 [December 26-27, 1947]
The day they picked our poem.
The hit we hit that won the game.
January 6th, the day they invaded the Capital.

Tell me ten days you remember?

Oops that’s 11.  Well, there are a lot more.

INCOMPLETE PRAYERS

God, my prayers
are incomplete. But
I know there is tomorrow.
And then again
there will be Lent –
a time to repent -
and there will be next Easter Sunday
morning  - when I’ll  think of YOU -
as I see the lilies trumpeting a new beginning
after that horrible Friday.
And then there will be more -
a lot more. I know that. Thank YOU.
