Reflection

LURKING

It’s a thing to do

every once in a while:

to notice what’s lurking

in the bushes outside our mind.

It could be fears, loses, problems.

To make them more specific

is the smarter thing to do –

like my brother dying or

a niece’s marriage getting shaky –

or that new boss at work.

Could be anxieties or fears.

Fears I can name them;

Anxieties are crawling ants

that I can’t really name yet.

Keeping calm and talking

to someone seem to be

two solutions or easers

to put into practice -

like putting lights on

the outside of our house.

What’s hiding in those bushes?
