ALTAR

Altar -

a massive stone -

silent in the center of the

sanctuary - with all the

benches watching -

waiting for sacrifices -

Abraham giving up Isaac,

the Father letting go of

the Son and then there’s me.

Yes me with only me,

and I fear I’m still unable

to make that sacrifice:

me giving up me -

the dying of self.
