EVENING SONG
I stand here at the edge of the universe
as darkness begins to crowd me out.
I
put my coat under my head for a pillow.
I
put my hands together to pray to you.
Lord,
give me a place to sleep.
I
am tired from too many steps.
I
have been walking and hiding in
too
many corners of this foreign land.
Lord,
I need a good night’s sleep.
Lord,
send me a Holy Angel.
Lord,
give me sweet dreams.
Lord,
give all a deep sleep tonight.
