MOONLIGHT

Sort of like a friend who gave
us off to the side advice when
we made a fool of ourselves.

Sort of like a glass of water
when we didn’t know we
were thirsty or dry or empty.

Sort of like a wave or a wink
when we felt all alone and
didn’t know what to do next.

Sort of like a red or blue
candle lit for us in a quiet
empty afternoon church.
