ICE SCREAM

Mom and dad were screaming!
Older sister and middle sister
were also screaming, but all the
youngest child could see was
the ice cream inside the freezer
section of their refrigerator –
and with a smile while waiting
he sang inwardly the old family song,
“I Scream,You Scream,
We All Scream for Ice Cream.”*

Then the afterthought,
“That will calm them down.”
