 Thought for the Day

“The ecstasy of religion, the ecstasy of art and the ecstasy of love are the only things worth thinking about and experiencing.”

SECRETS

We all have our secrets -
kept inside a handkerchief –
in the back of a bottom drawer –
underneath a pair of sweatpants.
There might be 55 other things
in our bedroom – but our secrets
are present and noisy – like the scream
of an alarm clock and we don’t like
their sound - especially when they
go off at the wrong, wrong time.

Thought for the Day

“Life is too short to waste your time on people who don’t respect, appreciate, and value you.”

THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE

Imagine an artist
saying to herself or himself,
“Something’s missing in this painting.”
And they look around the room
for something – anything - and they
say, “It’s missing a pearl!” or “A sword”
or “A book” or “A large platter of pasta.”

And they paint into that painting
a platter of pasta or a dog collar or a pearl
of great price and that painting –
once worth about 30 dollars is now
worth millions of euros – hanging
on a wall in a museum in the Hague –
for all to see and praise and admire.

FAVORITES

Favorites?
Do we all have our favorite number?
Favorite letter?
Color?
Word?
Book?
Movie?
Song?
Ice cream favor?
So why do we hold onto our mistakes?
