Quote for Today

"Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom.  If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn."

THE  PAST

The past is never past.

Mistakes, sins, something

I said or did that was dumb

hangs there like a favorite old shirt

in a dark basement closet for the longest time.

Time – not a Spring cleaning –

is my only hope.

A FEW DAYS

A few days of life and then

one lives forever – forever.

We don’t pay attention to

that – but if we did,  it would

or could give us a dimension

that brings into us morality, God,

and how we see and do life.

That doesn't hit us till it does.

DOORS

What are the doors we pause before opening?

What are the doors we can’t wait to open?

What are the doors we can’t wait to close?

What are the doors we want to lock?

What are the doors we wonder what’s on the other

side of?

What are  the doors leading to secrets behind the

scenes?

What are the doors that led to total surprise?

What are the doors to the church we said our last

prayer in?

Quote for Today

"Men at forty

Learn to close softly

The doors to rooms they will not be

Coming back to."
