Quote for Today

"Lord, I know not what I ought to ask of You.

You only know what I need ....

I simply present myself  before You.

I open my heart to You.

Behold my needs which I know not myself.

Hurt or heal.

Depress me, or raise me up.

I adore all Your purposes, without knowing them.

I am silent. I offer myself in sacrifice.

I yield myself to You.

I would have no other desire than to accomplish Your Will.

Teach me to pray.

Pray Yourself in me. Amen.

Francois Fenelon [1651-1715]

French Archbishop of Cambray

THE  BISHOP

The bishop wore a coat,

a long dark black wool coat,

yet it was June

and it was warm.

The bishop wore a coat,

a long dark black wool coat

and as I was standing there

I was wondering what he was all about.

The bishop wore a coat,

a long dark black wool coat

and sweating there I simply said

I guess this is what he is all about.

 CARD  GAME

Two jacks, then two aces,

Woo, wow, can it get better?

What will my next card be?

A jack or an ace, please, please ….

Life. I know the song….

Time. I have to learn how to keep

calm, cool – without giving away

that I might have a winning hand.

What are the odds of  getting one

of the two jacks or aces that are left?

Surprise!  I got the two of hearts.

So now it's what the others have and get.

SPOTLESS

We would like to arrive in heaven

wearing a spotless garment.

Sorry….

Table cloths get spaghetti stains.

Cars get dents.

Skin gets scars.

Mouths say the wrong things.

We do dumb at times.

What do you expect me to be?

A Pharisee or something like that.

Quote for Today

"Cultures have long heard wisdom in non-human voices: Apollo, god of music, medicine and knowledge, came to Delphi in the form of a dolphin.  But dolphins, which fill the oceans with blipping and chirping, and whales, which mew and caw in ultramarine jazz - a true rhapsody in blue - are hunted to the edge of silence.
