COMPARISONS
She knew she wasn’t supposed to compare. Why not? Many reasons. You
really never know the other.
You don’t. But she looked around
wanting to compare herself to all
the other blades of grass on the great big green lawn next to the house. Height? No. Width? No.
Lawn mowers are the great equalizers.
They take care of that kind of comparison.
Green? Shades of green. Comparisons. There it was. That was it. My green is a better green than your green. Do we all need something to make ourselves look better than the next guy?

fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.”

GROUNDLESS
I realize I need to be like a wrestler, who throws his opponent to the mat. That’s kind of harsh talking – but sometimes when the other seems to just be babbling – blurting out non- thought out thoughts – it’s then I need to break another’s soap bubbles – with hopes it's then they might understand. I use questions - hooks that could cause pauses in the other. Maybe that will tell them I’m interested in what they might be trying to say. How else can I get to the ground of their being – to the experiences they might not have dug into - in the experiences of their lifetime.
“The
ecstasy of religion, the ecstasy of art and the ecstasy of love are the only things
worth thinking about and experiencing.”

SECRETS
We all have our secrets - kept inside a handkerchief – in the back of a bottom drawer – underneath a pair of sweatpants. There might be 55 other things in our bedroom – but our secrets are present and noisy – like the
scream of an alarm clock and we don’t
like their sound - especially when
they go off at the wrong, wrong time.
