BLADE  OF  GRASS

Lord, if I were a blade of grass,
I hope I’d  like the color green.
If I were a blade of grass, I hope
I’d stand tall, shine, enjoy both
the night and the day, enjoy the
rain, the snow, the sun and the
feet of those who step on me -
especially kids either with a kite
or tossing a Frisbee or having a
catch with their dad – before I die
getting a crew cut on a summer evening.

COFFEE  BREAKS

Wouldn’t it be interesting if we
found out that clay coffee cups
and mugs met every night and
told each other what they heard
that day?  Wouldn’t it  be a shock?
Wouldn’t that be a surprise?
Gossip – envy – jealousies – joys ….
Brags about kids getting almost
a perfect score in their S.A.T’s ….
A daughter’s marriage is in
trouble and the prayers of a
Ladies Prayer Group and Coffee….

SOUNDS   LIKE

The first cry of a new born baby ….

A violin being played by an 8 year old girl
at her grandmother’s funeral ….

A dog barking as we come up the driveway ….

Shaking trees creaking on a cold night ….

A commuter train screaming it's coming
into a railroad crossing ....

A "Phew!" coming out of the confession box ....

An  “I’m sorry” from a daughter who’s been
out of the family loop for 11 years ….

Hearing the name called out of a family member
at a college graduation …. Summa cum laude ….
