WAITRESS

She always thought she’d finish college,

but she dropped out too soon, too early.

She always thought she’d finish community

college, but money, a break up, ended that.

By degrees, marriage, four kids, lots of reading 

and now her waitress job, she learned a lot.

She learned about people, bosses, customers,

tips, who wants what, enough for a life’s Ph.D.
